On April 15, AUS organized, together with Club Madera<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and Ecohub<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, a technical conference on architecture and industrialized timber construction at the COAC<\/a><\/strong>, bringing together more than 80 attendees.<\/p>\n

The session addressed the current state of industrialized timber construction, as well as the opportunities offered by decarbonization policies to promote new, more sustainable construction models. International experiences and case studies were also shared, showing how public regulation can act as a driving force to encourage the use of timber in building construction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

The institutional welcome was given by Sandra Bestraten<\/strong>, president of the Barcelona Branch of the COAC; Toni Escud\u00e9<\/strong>, member of the AUS board of directors; and Edgar Lafuente<\/strong>, head of the timber industry and construction area at Cesefor<\/a><\/strong> and executive director of Club Madera.<\/p>\n

The conference featured the participation of Andrew Waugh<\/strong>, founding director of Waugh Thistleton Architects<\/a><\/strong>, a London-based studio internationally recognized for its leadership in sustainable architecture and timber construction. During his presentation, he showcased several projects developed in the United Kingdom and other international contexts, sharing experiences related to promoting large-scale timber construction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Later, Adriano Francescotti<\/strong>, a civil engineer specialized in timber construction and technical director of X-LAM Dolomiti<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, presented different examples of prefabricated hybrid systems combining concrete, steel and timber, highlighting their advantages in terms of construction optimization, efficiency and reduced construction times.<\/p>\n

The conference concluded with a roundtable discussion moderated by Toni Escud\u00e9, featuring Ignasi Caus<\/strong> (Tallfusta<\/a><\/strong>), Sergi Sebasti\u00e0<\/strong> (Fustes Sebasti\u00e0<\/strong><\/span><\/a>), Stefano C. Ascione<\/strong> (Arquima<\/a><\/strong>) and Paula Boixader<\/strong> (EGOIN<\/a><\/strong> Catalunya).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

During the discussion, the importance of fostering collaboration between industry, technical teams and public administration from the early stages of projects was highlighted, with the aim of ensuring their technical and economic viability and facilitating the implementation of these types of construction systems.<\/p>\n

The conference concluded with a networking lunch among attendees, creating a space for exchange and connection between professionals linked to sustainable and industrialized construction.<\/p>\n
