In 2025, AUS – Association of Architects for Sustainability celebrated 20 years of collective journey. Two decades of commitment to a more sustainable, healthy and responsible architecture, built through shared work, critical debate and a constant willingness to transform the profession.
A visual story to tell a shared journey

To mark this significant anniversary, we commissioned a live graphic recording, created by the illustrator Maria Calvet, who transformed the words, memories, reflections and anecdotes shared during the gathering into a collective visual narrative.
The drawing was conceived as a timeline that begins with the founding of the association on 30 November 2005 and extends to the present day, highlighting the key moments, people and milestones that have shaped the journey of AUS.
The stages of AUS, through the people who have led it

The visual journey clearly identifies the different stages of the association through its presidencies:
- The beginnings with Toni Solanas, when talking about sustainability within the profession was still uncommon. A foundational stage marked by intuition and conviction, during which AUS began to build its name, community and reputation.
- The stage led by Núria Pedrals, linked to study trips, technical visits and gatherings of members. Experiences that demonstrated that another way of practicing architecture was not only desirable, but also possible and real.
- The mandate of Albert Cuchí, characterised by an opening towards political and institutional advocacy, relationships at both national and European levels, and the creation of the Health Group, broadening the focus of sustainability to include people’s health and well-being.
- Present and future with Greta Tresserra, marked by a forward-looking perspective, full of enthusiasm, tools and capacity. A stage that strengthens the connection with members, reactivates activities and spaces for exchange, and promotes new shared challenges, with a clear commitment to advocacy, impact and the building of alliances, and to turning ideas into action by putting discourse into practice.
The strength of the group

Beyond leadership, the graphic recording highlights what truly defines AUS: the strength of the group. Throughout the drawing we see the people, the background conversations, spontaneous comments, working groups, training sessions in bioconstruction, the connection with the IEB, the visits, the shared meals, and all those small moments that, together, have helped the association grow.
It is a story built by many hands, many voices and many perspectives. A story that is not told only through dates and milestones, but also through relationships, complicities and shared commitment.
A memory and a tool for the future

We wanted this graphic recording to be much more than a summary of the celebration: to become a shared memory, a tool for collective remembrance, and also a starting point for moving forward.
Because these 20 years are not an endpoint, but another stage in an ongoing journey. We continue walking together towards a more sustainable, fair and healthy architecture.
