On April 15, AUS took part in the official presentation event of SOCSA, the Catalan Society for Environmental Health, a new scientific association aimed at promoting knowledge and action around environmental health from a cross-disciplinary perspective.
AUS’s participation in this event strengthens the association’s connection with the health sector and continues the work it has been promoting for years in relation to biohabitability, indoor environmental quality, and the role of architecture as a public health tool.

The event featured the participation of Irene Corbella, head of the Environmental Health Service at the Public Health Agency of the Government of Catalonia; Carme Chacón, deputy director general for Food Safety and Health Protection at the Department of Health; and Esteve Fernández, secretary of Public Health of the Government of Catalonia.
During the event, the different SOCSA working groups were presented, including the biohabitability working group, coordinated by Sònia Hernández-Montaño, secretary of AUS.
The creation of this working space highlights the growing relationship between environmental health and the built environment, as well as the need to address environmental and health challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective.

At AUS, we work to promote an understanding of sustainability that also incorporates people’s health and well-being, recognizing that architecture and the spaces we inhabit have a direct impact on quality of life.
In this sense, alliances and collaborative platforms such as SOCSA help strengthen the role that architecture can play in creating healthier, more resilient and sustainable environments.
