AUS takes part in betevé’s Punt de fuga programme

Last June, AUS President Greta Tresserra took part in betevé’s Punt de fuga programme, as a guest on the debate segment La sala, which on this occasion focused on how 21st-century cities should be planned to address today’s climate, social and urban challenges.

Following the broadcast of the documentary The Active City, journalist Anna Gansinelli moderated a discussion on the transformation of cities, addressing topics such as mobility, access to housing, the renaturalisation of public space, urban health, and the need to create more resilient, inclusive and liveable environments.

Greta Tresserra joined Carme Miralles-Guasch, Professor of Urban Geography at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and Isabelle Anguelovski, Director of the Barcelona Lab for Urban Environmental Justice and Sustainability (ICTA-UAB).

The discussion highlighted that today’s major environmental and social challenges require a new approach to urban planning, promoting more compact, healthy, biodiverse and climate-adapted cities. It also underscored the key role of architecture and urban planning in improving people’s quality of life while reducing the environmental impact of our cities.

At AUS, we welcome our President’s participation in public outreach and debate initiatives such as this, which help place sustainability, architecture and urban planning at the heart of the public conversation.
